ARTWORK
Humming River
Jonathan Levy
Observation of nature formed both Levy’s outlook on life and style of painting. This focused his attention to the patterns and movements found in nature, from the repetitive formula of a flower, to the chaotic rhythm of the ocean. As a child, he was deeply intrigued by the marbling patterns found within stone. Now, through his art, he copies them. “The elements found within nature are undeniably attractive. We are all deeply drawn to them,” Levy states. Through his work, he is attempting to reignite an appreciation for that which forms through a natural process. In today’s fast-moving, high-tech world, the splendor of nature, oftentimes, is overshadowed and taken for granted. Levy’s work aims to spotlight that which grows, forms and prospers without the intervention of man.
